Men’s Sheds are holding events in June to support The Big Bike Revival call to action – to help drive the wider campaign to ‘Get Britain Cycling’. The events will take place at the carriage next to the head of Steam in St Georges Square in Huddersfield. We hope that you can go along and support Gez, Ben, Katie and the team.
The Big Bike Revival aims to show communities how to fix a bike, learn how to keep it serviceable and gain the confidence to make cycle journeys that replace trips typically made by motorised vehicles.
Maybe you will be encouraged to dust off your bike, brush up on cycle skills and start cycling again?
Our events include:
10th June (12 until 2) – ‘Embarrassing bikes’
This is the first day of the events and allows people to bring in damaged bikes to get fixed by Ben our bike mechanic. There is also a circus performer outside the shed as additional family entertainment.
14th, 15th and 16th June (10 until 4) – Puncture support and maintenance
This is a chance for people to learn how to mend bikes themselves through hourly demonstrations by Ben
17th June (12 until 2) – The final event is the ‘Tyre challenge’
This is a contest to replace a bike tyre the fastest, it will be a race against Ben and there will be a small prize available for the winner.
This is a free event and refreshments will be provided.
