National Children’s Centre (trading as Yorkshire Children’s Centre) is a medium sized registered charity (charity number 288125), based in Kirklees with contracts also in Calderdale and South Yorkshire. Our Vision is a future where Children, Young People, Families and Older People achieve their full potential in life.
Our work is delivered through 3 themes of activity – Education & Training, Children & Families Services and the Health and Wellbeing Programme – and supported by social enterprise activities including 5 Pass It On Shops. We have a turnover of approx. £2m, approx 100 employees and 260 volunteers.
We have a current vacancy within our Board of Trustees to which Trustees would like to appoint an individual to be responsible for the financial well-being, strategy and specifically to lead in the trustees’ duty to ensure that proper accounting records are kept, financial resources are properly controlled and economically spent in line with good governance, legal and regulatory requirements.
Please note this is a voluntary position. The Board meets approx 5 times per year, with additional sub committees.

Yorkshire Children’s Centre is looking for dedicated and passionate individuals who want to bring about long term change for families.
In partnership with Pluss, we have recently secured funding from ESF & Big Lottery Reaching for a 2.5 year programme called ‘Hopeful Families’ to run across Calderdale, Kirklees & Wakefield, and have vacancies for the following posts:
2 x Family Mentors
The Family Mentors will support clients, primarily within Kirklees providing 1:1 support to engage with disadvantaged participants with multiple barriers, assessing their needs and developing tailored support packages to enable to them to become more socially included and enter training, education and/or employment.
Our ideal candidate will need to have a background in either family work , training, or delivering work focused programmes, experience of managing all aspects of project/service delivery and the ability to work in a people centred manner.
Family Mentor, Hopeful Families, Kirklees – 35 hours per week, £22,703 pa . Based in Brian Jackson House, Huddersfield.
Family Mentor, Hopeful Families, Kirklees – 28 hours per week, £22,703 pro rata (based on 35 hours/week). Based in Jo Cox House, Batley.

Based within the Finance Team, but working as part of the Hopeful Families project, this role will provide support for the monthly monitoring processes associated, liaising with the Family Mentors to ensure the timely and effective provision of information to Pluss to support the overall management of the Hopeful Families service.
Finance Admin Assistant, Kirklees – 8 hours per week, £15,135 pro rata (based on 35 hours/week). Based in Brian Jackson House.
