Safety Rangers

Yorkshire Children’s Centre are proud to offer this service as part of the Thriving Kirklees Partnership.

Yorkshire Children’s Centre are also working in partnership with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service, West Yorkshire Police and Kirklees Road Safety to deliver Safety Rangers.

Safety Rangers is a multi-agency, interactive, accident prevention scheme and is aimed at Year 5 pupils that live in Kirklees. The aim of “Safety Rangers” is to help reduce and prevent accidents to children through a variety of fun teaching methods and scenarios. Topics covered include subjects such as fire safety, road safety and anti-social behaviour, all of which are delivered by our partners. On arrival classes are split in to 3 groups, each group then moves round the fire station on a carousel basis visiting each scenario, before taking part in a quiz. The quiz is based on what the children learn from the session and helps us gage the increase of knowledge.

Safety Rangers runs four times a year for 1 week at a time and is split in to sessions (Morning and Afternoon). The running time of each session is approximately 2 hours. The sessions are held at local fire stations across Kirklees.
