Meet the Team: Rifet Iqbal

It’s #MeetTheTeam time.

Full Name: Rifet Iqbal

Job Title: Domestic Abuse Worker

Time in the role: 6 Months

What’s something people don’t know about you? I completed a fashion design course which included jewellery making whilst studying my A levels; and from time to time I design bespoke dresses/outfits and jewellery.

Your role in a nutshell: I provide practical and emotional support for survivors (I like to call them warriors!) of domestic abuse, with the view of empowering survivors to make safe choices in life both for themselves and for their families. Every day, without fail, I am in awe of my warriors persevering and carrying on.

Why do you like working for YCC? I seem to navigate towards helping people so where better than a children’s charity? I love talking and I get paid for it!

What’s one of your favourite work memories? The in-house presentation/get together by all the departments that YCC held in 2021.

And finally, what advice would you give to people considering working at YCC? It’s an environment where people are valued and supported. It’s also a place where I feel at home.
