Castle Hill Sponsored Walk: Sunday 17th July

On Sunday 17th July, YCC are arranging a big group walk from Brian Jackson House, Huddersfield, all the way to the top of Castle Hill.



The goal of the walk is to increase awareness of YCC and raise money to fund important projects.

The walk is open to ALL MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC and we hope that our communities, service users, volunteers, employees and stakeholders will all consider joining us.

As a sponsored walk, we ask that each person joining in seeks to make a donation to the charity, via the JustGiving page.

You may like to collect sponsorships for the walk, or make a one-off donation. YCC is recommending a target donation pledge of £50 per walker/per family – although this is not compulsory.

All money raised during the event will go towards supporting the services that we offer to directly benefit our communities.


What are the timings for the event? We will meet at Brian Jackson House Huddersfield at 10am where we will complete a quick Health & Safety briefing, and provide you with some refreshments and a map. The walk will take around 1 hour, and further refreshments will be provided once we arrive at Castle Hill, where the event will end with a photo opportunity. We should arrive at Castle Hill no later than 11.30 and the event will end at around 12pm.

Are children able to take part? YES! But please note that anyone under 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult and all attending children must be registered on an adult’s booking form.

Can I bring along my pet? Of course, dogs are more than welcome on the walk – but please keep them on a lead.

What is the route like? The walk will involve one hour of walking up a steady incline in order to reach the top of Castle Hill. The walk will stick to main roads/public highways that have a pavement at all times. We will not be using any fields or ‘shortcuts’. However, please note that near the end of the walk, as we climb the hill, there may be some uneven ground and it may be difficult for prams/wheelchair users to access. Is there a dress code? YES! We ask that everyone participating in the walk wears ORANGE or another BRIGHT COLOUR to stand out as much as possible during the walk. Fancy dress is welcomed! Please also dress appropriate to the weather on the day, and wear comfortable walking shoes.
