Salary:                                £21,000 to £26,000 dependent on experience

Brian Jackson College are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Teacher.

This is a great opportunity for an aspiring/experienced Teacher who wants to develop creative learning opportunities for children with varied and complex needs.

Your work will be challenging and rewarding in equal measure, working with small groups of pupils and on occasion 1:1, in a school where we maintain a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected, and involved in as many decisions as possible surrounding their learning.

The successful candidate will have the ability to plan and deliver lessons to pupils in KS3 and KS4, with a variety of cognitive styles, and in line with the curriculum.  You will have experience in developing engaging teaching resources, teaching programs and pastoral activities as appropriate

The successful candidate will be solution focused with the ability to engage all pupils in interactive, hands on, creative and problem-based learning; providing tailored support based on each pupils’ individual needs, capabilities and learning preferences and, when required, a blended learning approach for pupils who do not attend the school full time. 

As a teacher you will be able to demonstrate a range of observation, assessment, monitoring and recording strategies as a basis for setting challenging learning objectives for pupils of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions, monitoring learners progress and levels of attainment; you will also provide pupils with feedback to enable ongoing learning and development.

The successful candidate will have a relevant teaching qualification or working towards and will have previous experience in teaching, ideally within a challenging environment.

As an integral part of our team, our ideal candidate needs to have outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills as well as the flexibility to adapt to the challenges of the school day.

You’ll need to be an enthusiastic team player with the ability to use initiative, work independently and stay organized. You’ll do all this whilst capturing the spirit of our vision and values and whilst role-modelling exceptional professional behaviours.

Brian Jackson College are owned and managed by the Yorkshire Children’s Centre which is a medium sized Charity in Kirklees. We are an Ofsted ‘GOOD’ school supporting students that have or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream school.
